About Ryan
Ryan is a cinematographer, director, photographer, and writer based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Starting at a very young age writing short stories and shooting short films with his friends, Ryan has an innate passion for filmmaking. He has shot and directed commercial/corporate campaigns, fashion projects, music videos and documentary work, but his true love is storytelling in narrative film.
As the owner of his freelance video production company, Tiger Trap Media, Ryan has written, produced, directed, shot, and edited several original short films and has received recognition from international short film competitions, film festivals, and his growing online audience. He has also worked as director of photography, grip/gaffer and second unit director of photography on commercials and feature films.
Ryan’s approach to cinematography is that every frame should tell a story. Not every frame has to be “pretty,” but it has to be powerful and purposeful enough to cause an emotional reaction in the audience. The lighting, composition, color, and movement should all serve the story.
